What does a heating service contract cover?
Our full service customers receive an annual service contract that includes a tune up of your heating system. This includes changing the nozzle, filter and strainer, tune up, vacuum, efficiency test and smoke test. We insure your unit is in good working order and running at maximum efficiency. Our contract is a 'gold contract". Once established you are covered for a break down 24/7 in the winter and standard operating hours in the summer, 8-4. Should you have a break down we provide twenty four hour service by a factory trained technician. The contract also covers all standard parts on the burner. We make sure your boiler or furnace, smoke pipe and chimney base are clear and clean. Efficiency tests help you save real fuel dollars! Once you have established a contract there is no charge for labor or materials for service calls required to repair, adjust or replace standard parts under normal operating conditions.
We also offer twenty four hour service at time and material if you are our oil customer. We will respond if you have no heat or a serious condition. A Hot Water Heater contract includes all standard parts on the unit. Once a contract is established there is no charge for labor or parts that are covered. Should you not have a contract we will still respond! Labor and parts are charged at the prevailing rate. A one hour minimum labor charge for any call is required. Hours: Our standard operating hours are 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday, May 1 to October 1. Our winter Schedule is October 1 to May 1, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week including holidays. Any contracted furnace is covered 24/7 in the heating season and operating hours in the summer season. If you do not have a contract or the part is not covered by a contract standard, overtime weekend and night rates apply. We are here when you need us! Servicemen are on call 24 hours a day seven days a week in the winter. Response time is generally within one to two hours but on an extremely cold day they can run up to three hours. Service calls are responded to in the order called in, in order to verify you still want the serviceman to come you must answer the telephone when our mechanic calls back. This insures you will not lose your place in line on a really cold night. Remember most companies do not offer twenty four hour service.
What to watch out for: As with all oil companies, service contracts do not include freezing pipes or water parts, ask us to add an anti gel to your tank if it is outside or has exposed lines. Even our cleanest oil will gel in sub-zero temps! Service contracts also do not cover your system if you let your tank run out of fuel. Put your home on automatic delivery, if you are on automatic and you run in most cases the service call is covered. An adult must be home at the time of any service call.
What you should know: It is recommended that the customer familiarizes themselves with their individual system. Try to know what tank size you have, where your reset button is and where the emergency shut off are! In many cases the serviceman can assist you over the telephone before making the call and at the very least understand the problem so he can better assist.
